GOLD & OIL WEEKLY SUMMARY
October 12–16, 2026
GOLD
Gold prices faced pressure throughout the week, driven by a stronger US dollar, elevated Treasury yields, and hotter-than-expected US CPI and PPI inflation data. These developments reinforced expectations of tighter Federal Reserve monetary policy, limiting gold's upside potential. Although prices briefly rebounded as the dollar weakened and bond yields declined, the recovery struggled to sustain momentum. Overall, gold remained under pressure as investors stayed cautious about the outlook for US interest rates.

Bullish Scenario: A sustained break and daily close above US$4,200 could trigger a recovery toward US$4,250 and US$4,300. A further move above these levels would strengthen the outlook for a more sustainable bullish recovery.
Bearish Scenario: If gold fails to break above US$4,200 and falls below the US$4,100 support level, selling pressure could accelerate toward US$4,050 and US$4,000. This support region will be crucial in determining whether the broader bearish trend continues.
Outlook for This Week
Gold remains in a consolidation phase following a significant bearish move from the US$4,600 region. Based on the daily chart, prices have started to stabilize around US$4,165, although a convincing trend reversal has yet to emerge. As long as gold stays below the US$4,200–4,250 resistance zone, selling pressure could continue to dominate.
Brent crude oil continues to show a bullish bias following its recovery from previous selling pressure, supported by an improving price structure on the daily chart. With a reference closing price near US$109 per barrel, Brent is approaching the key resistance zone at US$110–112. Ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and concerns over potential global supply disruptions remain important factors supporting oil prices.
Bullish Scenario: A sustained breakout and daily close above US$112 could extend bullish momentum toward US$115 and US$120 per barrel. Further upside may be supported by renewed concerns over potential supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Bearish Scenario: If Brent fails to break through the US$110–112 resistance zone, prices could retreat toward the US$105 support level. A break below US$105 may trigger further downside toward US$100 and US$95 per barrel, particularly if global supply concerns begin to ease.
