Silver

The price of silver (XAG/USD) began to recover during Monday’s trading session (Nov 2), breaking back above the US$50 per troy ounce level. Recent market data shows silver trading at approximately US$50.27—up about 2.29% for the day—following a sharp decline that had pushed the price near US$49.
This recovery comes as oil prices weakened, slightly easing concerns regarding inflationary pressure. Developments in US-Iran diplomacy have also drawn market attention, following reports that Washington remains open to negotiation efforts before considering further military action.
Nevertheless, the pressure on silver has not entirely dissipated. During Friday’s trading, XAG/USD fell by more than 6%, dropping to around US$49—its lowest level since November 2025. On a monthly basis, silver remains under significant strain, having previously traded well above the US$50 mark.
Regarding monetary policy, the market currently estimates a roughly 75% probability of a Federal Reserve interest rate hike in December. Such expectations pose a challenge for silver, as higher interest rates increase the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets.
Beyond interest rate factors, a global sell-off in equities—driven by concerns over heavy investments in artificial intelligence—prompted investors to liquidate silver holdings to cover losses elsewhere. This dynamic has intensified the pressure on the precious metal over the last few sessions.
Market attention now shifts to this week’s US employment data, particularly the Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP) report, which may offer new clues regarding the Fed’s future policy direction. Should the labor data show signs of weakness—leading to a decline in rate-hike expectations—silver could sustain its recovery; conversely, strong US data could exert renewed downward pressure on prices.
