The Houthi group in Yemen has declared that it will continue to target King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, according to a statement released on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at 23:50:36 GMT (Monday, October 26, at 06:50:36 WIB). This threat emerged just hours after Saudi Arabia announced that flights at the airport had resumed, despite an ongoing series of Houthi attacks.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree stated that King Khalid Airport would “never be safe,” and urged airlines, airport staff, and passengers to avoid using the facility. He further claimed that his group had carried out three military operations involving dozens of ballistic missiles, asserting that the strikes on the airport had successfully hit their targets.
In addition to King Khalid Airport, the Houthis claimed to have attacked King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Najran Airport, and the Khamis Mushait airbase. This series of attacks intensifies pressure on various strategic Saudi Arabian facilities, amid escalating tensions between the Kingdom and the Iran-backed group.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian authorities reported that they had intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis toward the regions of Taif and Yanbu. These developments indicate that the threat of attacks persists, even as some aviation facilities have resumed operations.
This escalation has once again drawn the attention of the energy market, given that Saudi Arabia is one of the world’s largest oil producers. Should the attacks extend to energy infrastructure or disrupt distribution routes, concerns regarding Middle Eastern oil supplies could intensify, sustaining a geopolitical risk premium within the oil market.
