GOLD PLUMMETS! THE US$4,000 PSYCHOLOGICAL LEVEL HAS FINALLY BEEN BREACHED!
Global gold prices saw another sharp decline during trading on Friday (October 23, 2026). At the time of writing, spot gold (XAU/USD) is hovering around US$3,988 per troy ounce, with selling pressure pushing it below the psychological threshold of US$4,000.
The drop in gold comes amid growing concerns over U.S. inflation, fueled by a surge in global oil prices. This has strengthened expectations that the Federal Reserve (The Fed) will maintain a tight interest rate policy for longer.
Interestingly, gold continues to weaken even as geopolitical tensions in the Middle East remain unresolved.
Does this breach of the US$4,000 level signal the beginning of a deeper decline for gold, or does it present an opportunity to "buy the dip"?
