US Dollar

The US Dollar strengthened during the European trading session on Friday (October 23, 2026), bolstered by a rise in global oil prices and a recovery in US Treasury yields following a sharp decline in the previous session.
The US Dollar Index (DXY) rose 0.2% to 101.763, while the 10-year Treasury yield increased by 2.9 basis points to 4.982%. Rising oil prices provided support for the greenback, reflecting the US's position as both an energy producer and exporter, alongside an increased demand for safe-haven assets. However, the rise in Treasury yields is expected to remain limited due to concerns regarding the substantial financing requirements for technology companies developing artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
Mahmoud Mashal, an analyst at VT Markets Dubai, suggests that uncertainty surrounding AI investment funding—coupled with pressure on the stock market—could prompt investors to seek refuge in US government bonds, thereby capping further gains in yields.
Conclusion
The strengthening of the US Dollar indicates that rising oil prices and the recovery in Treasury yields continue to support the greenback in the short term. Nevertheless, concerns regarding the sustainability of AI investments could potentially drive renewed demand for US government bonds, putting downward pressure on yields.
Market Impact: A stronger US Dollar and higher Treasury yields could exert pressure on gold prices. Conversely, should concerns regarding the AI sector intensify and investors flock back to government bonds, a decline in yields could limit the dollar's gains while potentially creating an opportunity for a recovery in gold.
