Nikkei Rises 0.66%, Property and Banking Shares Lead Gains
Japanese stocks closed higher on Monday. The Nikkei 225 index rose 0.66%, driven by gains in the property, banking, and textile sectors.
Shift shares surged 9.32%, BayCurrent Consulting rose 8.95%, and Shiseido gained 7.62%. Conversely, Shin-Etsu Chemical fell 8.30%, Chugai Pharmaceutical fell 7.66%, and Fujikura fell 5.83%.
Overall market sentiment was quite positive, with 2,836 stocks advancing, 682 declining, and 243 unchanged. The Nikkei volatility index also fell 5.57% to 32.88, indicating investor anxiety is easing.
