European Stocks Rise, Bolstered by Corporate Earnings
European stock markets rose during Thursday's trading (July 30) amidst a flurry of corporate earnings reports. The Stoxx 600 index climbed 0.8%, led by the mining and banking sectors, after several companies posted results that exceeded expectations.
Schneider Electric surged 11% after raising its performance outlook, while Rolls-Royce rose 6% after revising its annual targets. Banking stocks also gained 2.6%, supported by the positive performance of Societe Generale, BBVA, and ING.
Conversely, Sanofi plunged 8.9% due to concerns regarding the company's growth prospects. Adidas fell 12% after posting disappointing earnings, while Stellantis dropped 4.3% amidst intense competitive pressure.
Overall, European markets were supported by better-than-expected earnings and a lower reliance on technology stocks. However, volatility remained high, as stocks failing to meet market expectations faced significant downward pressure. (arl)
