US Dollar

The United States (US) dollar traded within a limited range on Monday (October 19, 2026), strengthening primarily against the euro. A resurgence of social unrest in France has fueled concerns regarding the country’s fiscal situation, thereby putting pressure on the European single currency.
The US Dollar Index (DXY) remained stable at 101.888, while the euro weakened by 0.2% to US$1.1212. Kudo.com analyst Konstantinos Chrysikos explained that the euro’s weakness has provided support for the US dollar, even though the US interest rate yield advantage has narrowed slightly over the last few sessions.
Meanwhile, the dollar’s gains have been tempered by growing investor skepticism regarding profit prospects and funding for artificial intelligence (AI) projects. These concerns have prompted investors to shift toward US government bonds (Treasuries), driving up demand for the bonds and pushing their yields lower.
According to Tradeweb data, the yield on the 10-year US Treasury note fell by 2.1 basis points to 5.076%. This decline in yields could limit the appeal of the US dollar by reducing the yield advantage offered by dollar-denominated assets.
Conclusion:
The movement of the US dollar reflects a tug-of-war between political pressures in Europe and declining US bond yields. While the unrest in France may continue to weigh on the euro and provide support for the dollar, falling Treasury yields could cap the dollar’s gains.
In the short term, the DXY is likely to consolidate, while the EUR/USD pair may remain under pressure if political and fiscal uncertainty in France persists. Market participants should also monitor Treasury yield movements and shifts in global risk sentiment, as these will be key determinants for the dollar’s next direction.
