Bitcoin stabilized during Friday’s trading session (October 16) as the selling pressure seen in previous sessions began to ease. According to the latest data from the European session, Bitcoin is trading around US$82,000 with a positive momentum, while Ethereum is hovering in the US$2,450 range. Several major altcoins have also rebounded, with XRP, BNB, Solana, and Cardano all posting gains.
The recovery in the crypto market coincides with a decline in US Treasury yields and a cooling of selling pressure on technology-related assets. Nevertheless, Bitcoin continues to face headwinds from persistent uncertainty regarding Federal Reserve interest rate policy, as well as capital outflows from Bitcoin ETFs. Prior to this recovery, Bitcoin had dipped below US$80,000 before attracting renewed buying interest.
Market sentiment toward risk assets remains influenced by "hot" US inflation data. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for September rose 3.7% year-on-year, while the Producer Price Index (PPI) surged 6.3% year-on-year. Although these figures could justify maintaining high interest rates, comments from various Fed officials—including Kevin Warsh—have not provided a clear signal for a rate hike in October. The market currently assigns a high probability to the Fed keeping interest rates unchanged at its October meeting.
Beyond interest rate concerns, apprehensions regarding the valuations of AI-related stocks and the high debt levels of technology companies are also shaping sentiment in the crypto space. A shift in capital toward US Treasuries—viewed as a "safe haven"—has driven yields lower, creating room for risk assets like cryptocurrencies to rebound. However, this dynamic could shift rapidly should expectations for interest rate hikes intensify once again.
In the altcoin market, Ethereum has gained approximately 3.6%, BNB is up 1.4%, XRP has risen by about 2.1%, and Solana has climbed roughly 3.4%, based on the latest data. This rebound suggests that buying interest is returning to the crypto market following the earlier wave of selling, though volatility remains high.
Newsmaker Analysis: Bitcoin and altcoins are beginning to show signs of recovery as U.S. yields decline and risk sentiment improves. However, their future direction remains heavily dependent on Federal Reserve policy, yield movements, ETF inflows, and conditions within the technology stock market. As long as expectations for high interest rates persist, any crypto rebound could still face renewed downward pressure.
