Hang Seng Index Continues to Rise
The Hang Seng Index rose for the fourth consecutive day during Thursday's trading (July 30) in Hong Kong. The index climbed 0.2%, or 50.96 points, to close at 25,858.88—marking its highest close since June 2.
Financial sector stocks were the primary drivers of the market's gains. AIA Group made the largest contribution, with its shares rising 1.9%.
New Oriental Education & Technology recorded the biggest gain, surging 18.8%. Overall, 50 of the 93 stocks in the index closed higher, while 39 declined.
The gains over four sessions indicate that market sentiment in Hong Kong remains relatively positive. However, the limited extent of the rise suggests investors are remaining cautious regarding China's economic developments, global interest rate policies, and corporate earnings reports.
