European Shares Inch Higher
The STOXX 50 edged up 0.1%, while the STOXX 600 gained 0.3% on Tuesday, rebounding modestly after a subdued session the previous day. Traders remained cautious, closely monitoring geopolitical tensions and awaiting further developments on the trade front, with a relatively light economic calendar offering little direction.
President Trump had a call with President Putin on Monday and said that Ukraine and Russia will immediately start negotiations toward a ceasefire and, more importantly, an end to the war, but possibly without the US.
Meanwhile, investors processed a series of corporate updates. Vodafone shares rose 0.5% after the company announced a €2 billion share buyback program. In contrast, Swiss Life slipped 0.4%, despite reporting higher fee income and increased premiums for the first quarter.
