DXY Weakens; Fed Decision in Market Spotlight

The US Dollar Index (DXY) remained below the 101 level during Thursday's trading (July 30), following a sharp decline in the previous session. This weakness occurred after the Federal Reserve decided to keep interest rates unchanged, despite renewed inflation risks stemming from escalating conflict in the Middle East.

The Fed's decision to hold rates steady did not garner unanimous support among FOMC members. Three members dissented and favored a rate hike, indicating that some policymakers remain concerned about the potential for inflationary pressures to intensify again.

Fed official Kevin Warsh emphasized that the decision to hold rates should not be interpreted as a sign of central bank passivity. He added that both the market and monetary policy would remain heavily dependent on incoming economic data.

In the Middle East, the US reported launching fresh airstrikes against Iran following attacks on American forces in the region. These tensions have prompted market participants to closely monitor inflation risks linked to energy prices, particularly given Iran's continued desire to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz.

Regarding market impact, the US dollar could experience volatility as the market weighs the Fed's decision, inflation risks, and the unfolding conflict in the Middle East. If future US economic data remains robust or oil prices surge again, expectations for a rate hike could rise, providing support for the dollar. However, if the Fed maintains a cautious stance and keeps rates unchanged, downward pressure on the DXY could persist. (asd)
