Iran: Araghchi to Islamabad, No Meetings with US Officials Yet

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei stated that no meeting between Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and US officials in Islamabad is planned. According to Baqaei, Iran's notes/observations will be "conveyed to Pakistan," while Araqchi is scheduled to meet with senior Pakistani officials.

This statement dampened expectations of a quick breakthrough through a direct Iran-US meeting in Pakistan, while also emphasizing that the current channels of communication remain indirect, through mediators. This implies that markets could remain sensitive to diplomatic headlines as uncertainty surrounding the timing and format of negotiations remains unclear. (Arl)
