Wall St opens lower on last day of quarter as government shutdown looms
Wall Street's main indexes opened lower on Tuesday, the final day of the third quarter, as investors fretted over likely delays in the release of key economic data due to a potential U.S. government shutdown.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI), opens new tab fell 33.4 points, or 0.07%, at the open to 46,282.63. The S&P 500 (.SPX), opens new tab fell 5.0 points, or 0.08%, at the open to 6,656.19, while the Nasdaq Composite (.IXIC), opens new tab dropped 10.8 points, or 0.05%, to 22,580.359.
