Erope Stocks, US Futures Drop on Trump’s Latest Comments
European stocks opened lower and US futures slipped after President Trump said he returned to Washington to monitor events in the Middle East directly from the Situation Room, according to CBS. Brent crude fell to $73 a barrel, down from $74.85 at the open, while spot gold trimmed earlier gains.
Trump said Iran is “very close” to a nuclear weapon and said he wants “a real end” to the nuclear problem with Iran, according to CBS. He said he expects Israel would intensify strikes and warned Tehran not to harm US troops, saying the US would “come down so hard” if provoked.
