Escalation Continues: Iranian Missiles Hit Israel

Iran launched a wave of missiles at Israel on Thursday, extending the escalation as the US-Israel war against Iran entered its sixth day. The attacks triggered air raid warnings and sent residents fleeing for shelters, signaling that tensions have not abated and the risk of miscalculation remains high.

Reuters reported that the war has also spread beyond the main flashpoints, including incidents involving Iranian military assets around Sri Lanka and missile interceptions, adding to the region's complexities. This series of events has increased operational uncertainty, particularly regarding the security of trade and shipping routes.

For the market, the most immediate transmission channels are usually through energy and logistics. When security risks on strategic routes increase, shipping and insurance costs tend to rise, so risk premiums on oil and energy products can potentially persist even without direct production disruptions.

In the near term, investor attention is focused on two variables: whether the intensity of attacks and incidents in shipping lanes increases, triggering physical supply disruptions, and whether political dynamics in the US change expectations of the duration of operations. As long as this uncertainty is high, volatility across assets tends to remain sensitive to headlines. (Cp)
